STEP 2 · FREE

We assess and structure it

We tell you what’s realistic, match you with the right lender from our panel and set the term, balloon and GST timing to suit your cashflow.

STEP 3

*24-hour turnaround applies to eligible applicants for loans under $500,000, for example established, GST-registered businesses buying a common asset. Approval and timing depend on the lender’s credit assessment and on us receiving the documents they need. Applying with a lender involves a credit enquiry; we’ll always tell you before that happens.

ATO debt refinancing

Behind with the ATO? Refinance it and get back in control.

Tax debt is getting more expensive to carry. We can refinance an ATO debt into a business loan with fixed repayments, so you stop the interest charges building and get your BAS and tax lodgements back on track.

Interest no longer deductibleFrom 1 July 2025 the ATO’s general interest charge (GIC) can’t be claimed as a tax deduction. Interest on a business loan generally can.
It can show on your credit fileThe ATO can report business tax debts over $100,000 that are more than 90 days overdue to credit reporting bureaus.
One fixed repaymentReplace a payment plan that can be cancelled with a loan over 1 to 5 years and a set monthly amount.
Protect suppliers and lendersClearing the debt can help keep your supplier terms and future finance options open.

General information only. Speak to your accountant about the tax treatment of your debt and loan interest.

What we usually need to get started

  • Your ATO statement of accountOr just the rough amount owing to begin with.
  • Business name and ABNAnd how long you’ve been trading.
  • Whether you have a payment planAnd if any lodgements are outstanding.
  • Any property or assetsSecured options are often cheaper, but unsecured options exist.
No credit check for the assessment. We look at your situation first and tell you which lenders will consider it. Lenders usually want to see lodgements up to date, so tell us if they aren’t and we’ll work through it.

What you can finance

  • Electric and hybrid vehiclesCars, utes, vans and electric trucks.
  • Solar and batteriesRooftop solar, battery storage and inverters for your premises.

  • Energy-efficient equipmentElectric forklifts, heat pumps, LED upgrades and efficient machinery.
EV & green asset finance

Cut your running costs, and often your rate

Several lenders on our panel offer discounted green rates on eligible electric vehicles, solar and energy-efficient equipment. The same structuring options apply: chattel mortgage, lease, balloon and GST in month 3.

Fringe benefits tax. Eligible battery electric cars below the luxury car tax threshold for fuel-efficient vehicles can be exempt from FBT when provided to employees. Ask your accountant whether it applies to you.
Structuring your loan

The choices that change your repayments

Two loans for the same truck can cost very different amounts each month. These are the settings we work through with you.

Repayments

Balloon (residual)

A lump sum left owing at the end of the loan. It lowers your monthly repayments, but you pay it out, refinance it or trade the asset at the end. Lenders usually cap it by asset type and term, often 20–50% for vehicles.

Repayments

Loan term

Most business assets are financed over 1 to 7 years. A longer term means smaller repayments but more interest overall. Older assets usually need a shorter term.

Tax & cashflow

GST paid back in month 3

If your business is registered for GST, you can usually claim the GST on the purchase in your next BAS. Many lenders let you finance the GST and pay it back as a lump sum in month 3, which lowers your regular repayments.

Repayments

Advance or arrears

In arrears, the first repayment is a month after settlement. In advance, it's due at settlement. Paying in advance slightly lowers the repayment.

Loan type

Chattel mortgage

You own the asset from day one and the lender takes security over it. It's the most common choice for GST-registered businesses buying vehicles and equipment.

Loan type

Finance lease and hire purchase

With a lease, the lender owns the asset and you pay to use it, with a residual at the end. With hire purchase, ownership passes to you after the final payment. Each is treated differently for tax.

Growing fleets

Equipment finance limit

A pre-approved limit with a lender that you draw on as you buy. Each purchase is approved faster with less paperwork, which suits businesses adding assets through the year.

Approval

Full doc or low doc

Full doc applications use financial statements and tax returns and usually get the sharpest rates. Low doc options suit established businesses whose financials aren't finalised yet.

General information only. It doesn't take your objectives, financial situation or needs into account. Speak to your accountant about the tax treatment of each option.

Questions

Common questions

Will getting a quote affect my credit score?

No. The free assessment doesn’t involve a credit check. We only make a credit enquiry when you decide to apply with a lender, and we’ll tell you before that happens.

How fast can I get approved?

For eligible loans under $500,000 we can often have an answer from the lender within 24 hours of receiving your details. Larger loans, property and complex deals take longer, and we’ll give you a realistic timeframe upfront.

What do I need for a loan under $500k?

For many established businesses it’s just driver’s licence details, your ABN and the invoice or quote for the asset. Lenders may ask for more depending on the amount, the asset, how long you’ve been trading and your credit history.

Can I get finance if my business is new?

Yes, some lenders on our panel lend to businesses with an ABN under 2 years old, usually with a deposit, a property owner as guarantor or a lower loan amount.

Can you refinance an ATO debt?

Yes. We can refinance tax debts with secured or unsecured business loans. Lenders usually want your lodgements up to date. See ATO debt refinancing.

What’s a balloon, and do I need one?

A balloon is a lump sum left owing at the end of the loan. It lowers your monthly repayments but you pay it out, refinance it or trade the asset at the end. It’s optional. Try it in the calculator.

Do you charge a fee?

The assessment is free. We’re usually paid a commission by the lender, and if there’s any fee for your loan we’ll tell you in writing before you go ahead.

Can I finance a private sale?

Yes, for cars, utes, trucks and many types of equipment. We’ll need the seller’s details and the lender may want an inspection or valuation.
